Joan & Sisters Restaurant: A Taste of the Caribbean in Los Angeles

We were immediately greeted by a young lady with a warm, welcoming smile. I had the short ribs dinner which was absolutely delicious. We had questions about their desserts and the young lady was happy (and patient) to tell us about each dessert item and offered us a sample of the items to taste. We chose their fudge - so good! The setting was warm with friendly and engaging customers. We recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good Belizean cuisine.

Unassuming and AMAZING! Highly recommended for some wonderful food that's so good it's like home cooking, if your mom was an amazing chef from Belize. You could almost pass this place by, but you would miss some AMAZING food from really friendly people! We just had the Belize-style chicken Tamale which was so delicious,l! And so large one was a lunch! and we also shared both the bean and fish Panades, which were also fantastic! We both surprisingly liked the bean even more than the fish, but both were wonderful.

Love this place! They give you so much flavorful food for a great price! Their ox tail is to die for! The lady who took are order was so nice! The place feels so homey and relaxing. Would definitely go back for some rice and beans !

Had a bad morning and wanted to treat myself to something good. I remembered this place was right around the corner so why not. Their website says "breakfast from 9-12pm", came in @11am and was told "breakfast was ending and the oxtail plate are dinner prices." Questionable but it's business I guess.. The generous amount of food for $27 tried to make up for it. Well actually, it was the oxtail that made up for it. Tender. Juicy with every bite. And literally had to catch it from falling off the bone. As you can see, no meat was wasted (pause) It did brighten up my day a bit and I'm glad places like this serve flavorful oxtail close by Rice was too mushy for my taste and potato salad could use more of a kick. Overall, 4/5

I highly recommend Joan & Sisters restaurant. The food is really good. All the food is always fresh.

Again the oxtail plate is fire the last time they were not tender but this time ONG they are back lol just an off day they had my last visit. Hey they are human! Service was nice the lady spoke to me about something I'd mentioned and told me about the original owner which was dope to learn. Oh I almost forgot please try the meat pies they are also delicious .

Joan and sisters are one of the best restaurant in LA they give you a lot for your money. I can feed my entire family with orders really, don't miss that meal it's right there on Western and you can enjoy your stew chicken your oxtails your rice with gravy, your potato salad or ooh don't forget those plantas.B they let you have it and they have other things I've been eating there for years. Don't go just anywhere expect to spend at least a 50 $60 or $100 if you buy four orders because it's worth it you can eat several days I'm telling you it's the word to the peoBelize Breakfast plenty right now

I finally got around to checking out Joan's & Sisters for the first time. I decided to stop by after work around 3pm. The place was pretty much empty, there was only one customer at the time. It was a friendly Belizean man who spoke highly of the food. It reassured me that the food I was about to order was going to be good. I ordered their Ox Tail plate, which was about $25. It's definitely not the cheapest plate, but for the amount of food they give, I would say it's worth it. The Ox Tail plate can definitely feed two people, in my opinion. The flavors were there and nothing was overpowering. The Ox Tails were juicy and tender. The potato salad was surprisingly good. The rice and beans together with the plantains is a must. I live so close to this place I can't believe I didn't try it sooner.
